-- Kalen Rachel Jamison was born to Katharyn and Carter Jamison on October 31, 1987 in Wilmington, North Carolina. A realtor and a chef who had been happily married for twenty years and had two sons to show for it by the time Kalen had graced the Earth. By her fourteenth birthday they had been blessed with two more daughters and what is now known as the Jamison bunch was complete. Their family was never normal by any means and Kalen (or KJ as everyone called her) who was stuck right in the middle was always seen as the most eclectic of them all.
-- She never suffered from the curse of the "middle child syndrome" and she never craved attention. The way she turned out, she somehow always lit up the room whenever she came in and the attention just followed. At an early age she was always trying to be active and do everything she could which included cheerleading, chorus, and tennis when she reached high school. Far from a star athlete, she just did her best and always made sure to have fun. A social butterfly, if you will. She had no trouble making friends, was never two-faced, and was rarely a bitch unless you happened to catch her on an extremely bad day.
-- By the time she was halfway through high school her popularity had grown not only because of her older brothers who had passed through the halls years before, but because of her whole persona. While other girls were passing those "check yes, no, or maybe" notes she was simply walking right up to them and getting down to the point or guys approached her. Her parents fully trusted her, though she had begun to create her party girl ways and her brothers were usually the ones who took responsibility in her relationship endeavors and "extracurricular activities" but Kalen always found her way around them. Although she had gone through many crushes and childish flings, KJ would say that she had never had a boyfriend until she went to college.
-- Her Freshman year she attended college in Texas. It was her first time really away from home and she took full advantage of that. Her partying was in full swing at this point and she saw no chance of that changing any time soon. Being tied down was never in her mind and she felt that way even after she met Bryton. She had no idea that things would change the way that they did and so soon. They met in her usual way, random flirtation and simple physical attraction. This soon turned into a "friends with benefits" kind of thing and they told each other that neither would get attached and if they did, things would be ended just as quickly as they started. Seemed simple enough, and at the time it was. Before she knew it, months had flown by and things had done a complete 360. The guy she had wanted an usual fling with had turned into the guy she couldn't be without. As much as it scared her they somehow came to the conclusion that they should at least try a relationship. It seemed as soon as they decided that, those three words that she never thought she would say were coming out of her mouth all of the time ... and she meant them with all of her heart. This scared both of them, but, Bryton being the way that he was had a different way of handling it and Kalen found herself going weeks without knowing where he even was. She didn't even know if he was going to come back. As heartbroken and confused as she was, she had to go on with her life and she had no way of knowing that would include another guy's company. KJ hadn't expected to feel what she felt for him and just when she thought she couldn't be more torn or confused, Bryton returned and the only thing she could do was be honest with him and let the chips fall where they might. Before they could even talk about it, sort through it, or come to any decision ... he left again, for good.
-- Kalen never dated him, it seemed as soon as Bryton was gone she knew where her heart wanted to be ... where she needed to be. But it was too late. She finished out the year and went home for summer then filed all of the papers to transfer to Hampton University as a Sophomore majoring in Art (emphasis on Photography) and minoring in English. She thought new school, new people, new beginning, but no Bryton. Now being back at square one, she had worked hard to get back to the way she used to be. The Kalen who didn't object to body shots or dancing on a table at a party. The girl who would be the first to come to the party and the last to leave. Back to no relationships and all fun, her number one priority was to never fall in love again although she knew she couldn't even if she wanted to because her heart still belonged to someone else. She was looking forward to it, but she was no way prepared to find out that the one person she had cared about the most ... the one who held the key to her heart ... the one she had unintentionally broken and pushed away, would be back in her life again.
